Protection from Flooding and Health Risks at MCF Malindi

Isaiah 43:2 (NIV) – “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”

MCF Malindi—home to young mothers and their babies—has been severely impacted by prolonged heavy rains along Kenya’s coastal region. What began as a normal rainy season has now caused flooding that has damaged infrastructure and raised serious health concerns.

Floodwaters affected the compound, and one external pit latrine collapsed due to saturated soil. Stagnant water nearby has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, increasing the risk of malaria and waterborne illnesses.

We thank God that no lives were lost and no one was injured—an undeniable testimony of His protection. But the health risks are urgent, and the burden of rebuilding is heavy.

Please pray with us: that God would place a hedge of protection over the girls, their babies, and the staff. Pray that no illness—especially malaria—will take hold among them, that peace will reign in their hearts instead of fear, and that the necessary resources and partnerships will come to restore broken sanitation systems and build proper drainage. Above all, pray that hope will remain firm and that God’s faithfulness will shine clearly in every step forward.
