Michael’s Story: Restoring Dignity, Hope, and a Safe Home
Psalm 41:1 (NIV) – “Blessed are those who have regard for the weak; the LORD delivers them in times of trouble.”
Michael is a 70-year-old resident of Ndalani. He and his wife, Ndunge, have six children, including two who are in the care of Mully Children’s Family (MCF): Mbatha, an 11th-grade student at MCF Ndalani Campus, and Tom, a 12th-grade student at MCF Yatta Campus.
At MCF, our calling extends beyond the more than 8,900 children and youth across our 11 campuses. Following Christ’s command to “love your neighbor as yourself,” MCF also serves vulnerable, marginalized, and underserved people in the surrounding communities. Caring for elderly, sick, impoverished, and vulnerable adults helps restore dignity and hope while strengthening families and protecting children from circumstances that can lead to neglect, homelessness, and life on the streets.
Michael was once a hardworking and self-reliant man, but his life changed after a serious workplace accident in which he fell into a fire and suffered severe burns to his face and chest. Although he received treatment, he was left with permanent scars and impaired vision.
In 2023, Michael developed a serious infection in his left foot. With MCF’s support, he was urgently referred to Machakos Level 5 Hospital, where specialists determined that an amputation was necessary to save his life. He has since developed high blood pressure, and MCF continues to provide the medication he needs.
MCF has also walked alongside Michael’s family in practical ways. His wife, Ndunge, has been given employment, their two children are receiving care and education through MCF, and the family is enrolled in MCF’s Monthly Relief Food Program, which provides essential food to 250 vulnerable households.
Today, Michael and his family live in a small, deteriorating house that is unsafe and at risk of collapsing, particularly during heavy rains. Given Michael’s physical limitations, the condition of their home creates an additional daily hardship.
MCF has helped build homes for vulnerable elderly people, widows, and disadvantaged families over the years, giving them greater safety and dignity. We are now trusting God to provide the resources needed to build and furnish a safe home for Michael and his family, a place where they can live with security, comfort, and dignity.

Michael’s entire family, that God will provide for their needs, strengthen them, and fill their lives and future home with His peace, hope, and love.
Vulnerable families and individuals in the communities surrounding MCF, that God will continue to use MCF and its partners to bring healing, dignity, protection, hope, and the love of Christ to those who are so often overlooked.
MCF’s community outreach efforts, that the Lord will provide the resources, wisdom, and faithful partners needed to continue caring for vulnerable children, adults, and families.
As Philippians 1:6 (NIV) reminds us, we can be confident “that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
