Born on Arrival: A Journey from Despair to Hope
Jeremiah 29:11 – NIV – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
On Thursday, November 27th, 2025, MCF Malindi opened its gates to welcome a new group of 35 girls and 13 babies, each carrying deep hopes for a renewed life. Among them was Dina (not her real name), a teenage girl who was partly orphaned and heavily pregnant, quietly holding onto the little strength she had left after years of hardship.
Dina’s childhood was filled with profound pain. As the second of eight siblings, tragedy struck her family when her father was poisoned. His death caused great devastation, and soon after his burial, the family lost their land, home, and belongings. Cultural stigma led the community to reject them because Dina’s mother had given birth to seven girls and only one boy. With nowhere to go, Dina, her mother, and all her siblings became homeless.
Her schooling ended abruptly in 2020 when she dropped out of seventh grade to help her mother find food for the younger children. Vulnerability pushed her into unhealthy relationships with men who offered financial support. She soon became pregnant, only to be abandoned after giving birth to her daughter. Still longing for stability, she trusted another man who promised to support her and set up a small grocery shop for her. Instead, he took advantage of her and left her with nothing. Months later, she discovered she was pregnant again, this time without any access to prenatal care.
On the very day MCF rescued her, November 27th, Dina unexpectedly went into labour. The next day, she delivered a healthy baby boy, a powerful symbol of new beginnings and the hope she found at MCF. For Dina, arriving at MCF meant stepping into safety, dignity, and the embrace of a family rooted in Christ’s love.
As Dina and the others begin their two-year journey of healing at MCF Malindi, we humbly ask for your prayers. Pray that each girl and baby will encounter the saving grace of Jesus Christ, rediscover their God-given worth, gain confidence, and be empowered with skills that will help them build stable futures. May God surround them with His love and guide them into lives filled with purpose.
