Heavy Rains
Kenya is currently experiencing heavy rains that have come just after the country has had two consecutive failed rainy seasons that led to drought. It has been reported the current rains are responsible for over 150 deaths nationwide while another estimated 100,000 families find themselves homeless. Crops and livestock have been swept away by the raging waters which have cut off communication in some areas due to rivers exceeding their banks and bridges swept away.
With this calamity at hand, Kenya is anticipating an increased number of water-borne, and vector-borne diseases. MCF expects an increased number of families will look to us for medical help, shelter, food and clean water.
Please remember Kenya in your prayers. We pray for God to moderate the rains in order that the crops that have been planted can reach a bountiful harvest.
Joel 2:23-24 (NIV)
Be glad, people of Zion, rejoice in the Lord your God, for he has given you the autumn rains because he is faithful. He sends you abundant showers, both autumn and spring rains, as before. The threshing floors will be filled with grain; the vats will overflow with new wine and oil.
