Kenya at a Crossroads: A Nation’s Cry for Justice, Accountability, and Peace

Matthew 5:9 (NIV) – “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”

Since mid-2024, Kenya has faced significant social unrest, reflecting deep economic challenges and growing public concern. The protests—largely led by youth—have called for broader reforms in leadership and governance. The unrest was sparked in June 2024 by the introduction of the Finance Bill, which proposed major tax increases to address national debt. This led to widespread demonstrations across urban centers, culminating in the bill’s withdrawal by the President.

One year later, in June 2025, Kenyans marked the anniversary with renewed demonstrations. Tragically, unrest once again turned deadly, highlighting the urgent need for national dialogue, justice, and reform.

As an organization rooted in Kenya, Mully Children’s Family pauses at this critical hour to pray for the nation and its people. We ask for healing over the wounds of those who have suffered loss. We pray for the families of those whose lives were taken. We seek wisdom and humility for the government, the President, and all leaders—to listen to the voice of the people.

We also lift up the youth of Kenya: may their passion be met with peace, and their convictions serve as seeds for constructive change. May they lead with vision and restraint, and may their cry not be in vain.

We want to reassure our friends, visitors, and partners that all MCF campuses remain safe and fully operational. The unrest has primarily affected central public areas, such as Nairobi’s business district and a few informal settlements—not any of our residential homes, schools, or program centers.

It is our heartfelt prayer that all God’s children come together in humility and grace—to confront the truth, seek justice for past wrongs, and walk faithfully toward a future of equity, accountability, and good governance.

We humbly pray for God’s mercy on Kenya. May He guide her toward a future filled with justice, peace, love, and unity.
