A Call for Peace and Wisdom
1 Timothy 2:1-2 (NIV): “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”
Kenya, East Africa’s economic powerhouse, faces a crisis. For five weeks, anti-government protests against a proposed financial bill have led to widespread discontent, loss of lives, property damage, and business disruption. All Cabinet Secretaries have been dismissed, and calls for President William Ruto’s resignation are increasing.
Although President Ruto has refrained from signing the bill, protests continue. As people of faith, we must pray for peace and reason in Kenya and for those in authority, especially President Ruto, as he navigates these turbulent times.
As we pray for Kenya, let’s also pray for nations worldwide facing political challenges, including the United States. May our prayers call for wisdom in leadership, peace in the streets, and justice for all.
