Empowering Education: How MCF is Shaping Future Leaders
At Mully Children’s Family (MCF), education is the heartbeat of our mission to transform the lives of vulnerable children in Kenya. Since Dr. Charles Mulli founded MCF in 1989, we’ve rescued children from streets, slums, and poverty, offering them a safe haven and the tools to become leaders. Through robust educational initiatives and vocational training programs, we’re equipping young people to break free from hardship and build sustainable futures for themselves and their communities.
A Commitment to Education
MCF believes every child deserves a chance to learn, no matter their past. Our schools provide primary and secondary education aligned with Kenya’s national curriculum, giving students a solid academic foundation. For many, this is their first opportunity to step into a classroom after years of struggle. Beyond academics, we integrate life skills and spiritual guidance, fostering resilience and purpose.
For students who show academic promise, MCF paves the way to higher education. Through scholarships and partnerships, we’ve supported individuals pursuing degrees in fields like science, medicine, and engineering at Kenyan universities. This commitment reflects our belief that education can transform a child’s life, preparing them to lead with impact.
Vocational Training: Skills for a Sustainable Future
Recognizing that every child’s path is unique, MCF offers vocational training to complement academic learning. At facilities like MCF Yatta, students gain hands-on skills in trades such as carpentry, tailoring, agriculture, and mechanics—fields that meet local demands and foster independence. Our agricultural programs teach sustainable farming techniques, contributing to food security while training the next generation of farmers. Graduates in tailoring and mechanics emerge as skilled artisans and technicians, ready to join the workforce or launch their own ventures.
Sustainability is central to our approach. MCF grows 90% of the food consumed by our children, a process that doubles as a learning opportunity for students in agricultural training. These programs don’t just teach skills—they instill confidence and an entrepreneurial spirit.
Real Impact, Real Lives Changed
The results of MCF’s efforts speak for themselves. Since our founding, we’ve impacted over 18,000 children, reintegrating them into society with the education and skills to thrive. Graduates of our programs have become business owners, community leaders, and professionals, proving the power of opportunity. In 2014, over 100 girls graduated from MCF Yatta’s vocational programs, equipped with trades like hairdressing and tailoring to build independent lives. Others have earned certificates from Mully College in areas like business and agriculture, stepping into roles that uplift their communities.
With over 6,200 children currently in our care across Kenya, MCF’s holistic model—rescuing, rehabilitating, and launching young people into dignified lives—continues to bear fruit.
