Growing up in Vipingo, Kenya, Mapenzi Safari never knew her father. Her mother worked tirelessly in the sisal plantations, doing everything she could to provide for her child. But when her mother fell ill with cervical cancer and passed away, Mapenzi was left completely alone.
A Childhood Marked by Loss & Loneliness
With no family to turn to, she fought through depression and despair, believing she would never again have someone to call ‘Mom’ or ‘Dad’. The future seemed hopeless.
But then, everything changed.
