IMMINENT DROUGHT

Prayer Request
We ask you to pray for our nation for the rains to fall at the right time. We hope and pray that you can stand with us in prayer and your substance in ensuring that the over 24,000 students have at least one meal a day, five days a week. Approximately 80% of the children we interviewed in these community schools testified that the lunch they have in school is the only meal they get in a day.
Background
The drought situation in Kenya continues to worsen in the Desert, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands across the country. The looming drought is ascribed to the poor performance of the 2021 short showers of rain coupled with the previous two failed successive seasons and the early cessation of the 2022 long rain season.
The number of people needing relief food support has increased from 3.5 million in May 2022 to 4.1 million in June 2022. Severe malnutrition has also been recorded across the counties, with 942,000 cases of children aged 6-59 months extremely malnourished and 134,000 reports of pregnant or lactating women acutely malnourished and in need of treatment.
MCF has several of its campuses based in these regions that are currently experiencing imminent drought. To keep children fed and in school, we supply lunch to 63 community schools in the Ndalani region with an enrolment of approximately 24,000 students.
We expect the short rains to commence in November 2022.
James 5:16-18 (TPT)
… for tremendous power is released through the passionate, heartfelt prayer of a godly believer! [17] Elijah was a man with human frailties, just like all of us, but he prayed and received supernatural answers. He actually shut the heavens over the land so there would be no rain for three and a half years! [18] Then he prayed again, and the skies opened up over the land so that the rain came again and produced the harvest.
